Gorgeous hand-decorated cobalt-blue and gold porcelain cup & saucer from the Dresden region of Germany. Both feature intricate detailing and Rococo-style painted scenes florals on the cup, a courting couple on the saucer.
It took me a hot minute to realize that the cup and saucer marking not different on purpose, or due to the character limits of the dainty booty of the cup. Turns out that the cup's mark R. Ufer Nachf. Dresden is from the late 1800searly 1900s, and the saucer marking Carl Anhäuser vormals R. Ufer Nachf., Dresden, König Johannstraße is from the successor firm, c. 1920s1930s. The two are not an original factory pairing, but both pieces come from the same Dresden porcelain lineage and complement each other beautifully. What's also apparent is whoever had them before they came to me took great care of them - they are in near mint vintage condition with minor age-related gilt wear. Perfect for display, gifting, or collectors of this elegant & classic style.
